overall: Scorpius is a creature of complexity, the type of man who understands the necessity of duty but values the price of compassion. For quite a long time, he was much like his father, largely one dimensional in his dislike for muggleborns, his love for blood supremacy. It was easy to be a spoiled brat when he was handed everything in life, given the tools to be the fussy, pretentious, perfectionist. He was vain, arrogant and woefully weak willed when it came to wanting to prove his worth to Draco, however with time came reality. The change began shortly after he started attending Hogwarts, nothing major at first - he actually happened upon some muggle music and fell in love. He developed a passion for art and creativity after that, the kind that went above and beyond magic or the illusions one could make with the flick of a wand. On the outside, he is haughty, stubborn, and cruel. On the inside? It's anyone's guess. He is a dark man with a few redeeming qualities. He is constantly tearing himself apart because he can't control how he feels about the world. He's far more open minded than he lets on, much more kind than he would ever admit to anyone. Oh, he might gift a friend with something, but they would never know it's from him - if anything, he'd sneer at them and then grin privately once their back was turned. He very much realizes that he has an 'image' to uphold, and it's one of his primary, driving factors. In essence, he's deathly afraid of being himself, which only fuels his outward disdain, making him often seem a lot angrier than he really is. He's jealous of people who don't have that type of 'responsebility' and secretly wishes he could be something other than who he is. This of course, doesn't take away from his ambition, nor his powerful charisma. background mother: Astoria Malfoy (née Greengrass), 40, Heiress father: Draco Malfoy, 42, Ministry Worker siblings: Cygnus Erasmus Malfoy, 14, Ravenclaw other relatives: Essentially all of the pureblood families: Black, Lestrange, Weasley, Yaxley, Greengrass, etc. overall: Enter a young man, aged 11, about to board the train that will take him to a world of magic and mystery. Imagine the wonderment, the mysticism, the awe at being able to partake in a gift as profound and meaningful as entering into what amounts to a highly exclusive collegium of wizarding academics - Scorpius felt none of that. Having grown up hearing stories of the wizarding wars, his father's role in them (often more heroic than was truth) and the generally lax standards of Hogwarts, he went in what what could best be called a chip on his shoulder and a view tainted by inexperience and arrogance. However, what he learned at Hogwarts far outweighed his expectations even for an establishment that would have been of great respect. But. Lets not start halfway through this story; that'd just be half-arsed. Scorpius was born and raised in the Malfoy Manor. His father was an emotionally distant sort who went to work at the ministry, came home, spent time with his wife and repeated that day endlessly. There were occasional trips to other countries, vacations and the sort, but for the most part - Draco didn't seem at all involved until his son grew about old enough to hold an intelligent conversation. Naturally, wanting some kind of edge, he saw to it that Scorpius was given training in things like the history of magic prior to the boy's acceptance into Hogwarts. Astoria was a doting mother, quiet though she was; as her preference generally fell to things like planning parties or big events. She would give her son whatever he wanted, and often used that type of thing as a bandaid for affection, which left a young Scorpius very starved for any kind of love. Fastforward through some dull years in Slytherin (big shock there, eh?) and our boy is fourteen, falling in love with a young man named Theodore Gregory, a muggle born who gives him all of the attention he always wanted as a boy. He tears himself up daily for it, for feeling that kind of passion for someone who is meant to be below him. They keep it quiet, secret, blissful, beautiful, euphoric. They're too young for sex, and leave it at rushed fondling, kissing; it's far too good to be true and soon Scorpius finds out why. During a full moon, a time when Theodore normally turns up missing, Scorpius follows after him, only to be attacked by a monster, a screeching howling beast of the night. Malfoy barely made it out of that situation alive, only just avoided being bitten or clawed. From that day forward he was deathly afraid of werewolves, that and he never saw his Theodore again. It's been two years since Scorpius fell in love, had his heart broken. He still carries guilt and loss, mourning and pain around; formidable barriers for anyone who might want to love him - or more importantly, to be loved in return. roleplayer alias: Callister experience: 6 years origin: Caution 2.0 other characters: Nada
