overall: riley is one of those people that often gets labelled as an unpleasant person yet is happy for that reputation to stick around. he can be quite sarcastic at times and his inconsideration for what people think of him makes him come across as arrogant. to a degree, this is true but he wouldn't describe himself as such. he is confident in his own abilities and doesn't see why he should pretend otherwise just to make people feel better. if he's good at something then he should be allowed to be pleased with that instead of people thinking he's big-headed.

the one thing that riley enjoys most in the world is sex. he won't force himself upon anyone but if he's set his mind on it then he'll do whatever he can to persuade them into it. he knows that he's attractive and will use this to his advantage. as far as he's concerned, he will only live once and so he should enjoy himself. this applies not just to the physical side of relationships, which is the only side riley shows much interest in, but also to life in general. he hates being bored and thus theoretical subjects have him screaming inside his head. if he can get out of the lesson then he will and if not then he'll settle for causing adequate trouble to amuse himself.

overall: riley was somewhat spoiled as a child. with no siblings to compete against for his parents' attention, all eyes were on him. his mother was as doting as was humanly possible and riley's beautiful little face even drew affection from cormac, who was then playing keeper for the falmouth falcons. anything he wanted was his. unfortunately for his parents, they hadn't quite anticipated how much of an effect this would have on him, particularly in his teenage years.

upon his arrival at hogwarts in his first year, riley was rather similar to the other boys in his year, particularly those that were then sorted into slytherin alongside him. while he didn't absorb any anti-muggle/muggle-born tendencies, although he did already believe wizards were better, his personality certainly blossomed in their company. riley had no trouble at all fitting the cunning and manipulative stereotype that was attached to his house. while he rarely paid any attention to his professors, he somehow managed to do brilliantly in all of his exams and essays so they couldn't really complain. he's just a smart kid that prioritises fun over learning.

it was in his fifth year that his current reputation began to take shape. while he'd spent his earlier years talking about all the things he would do, and in some cases claimed to have already done, he could now legally add some truth to it all. as soon as he turned sixteen, he started getting with anyone that he found attractive. had he been a girl, he'd have been labelled a slut but being a male, he was congratulated for his activities. though most people are now aware of his sexual tendencies, he still manages to get plenty of satisfaction. he's currently studying for his newts but this won't stop him being himself.
